Role Description
This is a full-time role for a
Network Engineer
, based on-site in
Johannesburg
. The position involves
working across multiple jurisdictions
, providing both
in-country support
and
remote/online support
to other Téleios operations within Africa and Asia Pacific.
The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing network systems—particularly within telecommunications environments—while ensuring high performance, reliability, and security. The role includes supporting geographically distributed teams and clients, with
periodic travel
required across African markets.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Designing, deploying, and optimizing IP, transmission, and telco-grade network infrastructures.
- Supporting PTP/PTMP wireless systems, GPON/FTTx architectures, core and access networks, and open networking platforms.
- Troubleshooting network issues across multiple countries via both on-site and remote interventions.
- Collaborating with cross-functional engineering, commercial, and operations teams to enhance system performance.
- Maintaining comprehensive network documentation and change control.
- Staying up to date with emerging technologies, standards, and security protocols to ensure robust and scalable network environments.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in
Network Administration
and
Network Engineering
, including setup, configuration, and operations of multi-site or multi-jurisdiction networks. - Strong background in
Telecommunications Networking
—including IP/MPLS, GPON/FTTx, wireless PTP/PTMP, licensed/unlicensed spectrum, routing, switching, and network monitoring tools. - Solid understanding of
Network Security
principles, including firewalls, VPNs, authentication, and secure network design. - Demonstrated ability in
Network Troubleshooting
and root-cause analysis for complex distributed systems. - Experience in
Network Design
, capacity planning, and designing scalable architectures for enterprise and telco environments. - Certifications such as
CCNA, CCNP
, or equivalent are highly advantageous. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across distributed teams and stakeholders in multiple countries.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience within
telecommunications
,
service provider environments
, or similar technical industries is a strong advantage. - Willingness to travel across African markets as required.
