INTRODUCTION

The Programme Manager will be responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting on all programme-related activities undertaken by the BLOODSA Foundation NPC (BLOODSA). This role ensures that programmes and strategic initiatives are delivered efficiently, on time, within scope and aligned with the organisation's mission to advance haematology care and health equity in South Africa and across Africa. The Programme Manager will coordinate across internal teams and external partners, maintaining a clear line of sight from strategy to implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning and Corporate Governance

  • Manage and oversee the organisation's financials.
  • Ensure the organisation is operating in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Programme Planning and Execution

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of all programmes aligned with BLOODSA's strategic priorities.
  • Develop detailed work plans, timelines, and resource allocation frameworks for each programme.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Establish and manage performance indicators, monitoring tools, and reporting mechanisms for all programmes.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual programme reports, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Stakeholder and Partnership Coordination
  • Liaise with programme stakeholders including health institutions, funders, clinicians, community groups, and partners.
  • Support the CEO/COO in cultivating and maintaining strategic partnerships.

Risk Management

  • Identify programme risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure programme continuity and sustainability.
  • Resource and Budget Management
  • Work with the CEO/COO and finance team to develop and manage programme budgets and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
  • Track grant deliverables and compliance for externally funded programmes.
  • Process Improvement
  • Support continuous improvement through periodic reviews, learning sessions, and stakeholder feedback loops.

Team Support

  • Collaborate with project officers, data staff, and support teams to ensure alignment across projects.
  • Assist with onboarding and capacity-building of new programme staff or interns as needed.
  • Support public relations activities, including newsletters, press releases, and event communication.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Programme and Project Management:
    Demonstrated experience in programme delivery, project management tools, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strategic Thinking:
    Ability to translate organisational strategy into programme action plans.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    Familiarity with logical frameworks, results-based management, and reporting.
  • Communication:
    Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder liaison.
  • Financial Acumen:
    Competent in managing budgets and financial reporting for projects.
  • Leadership and Teamwork:
    Collaborative team player with experience coordinating across diverse teams and contexts.
  • Technology:
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Trello, Asana, or similar).
  • Analytical Skills:
    Ability to gather and interpret data to guide decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce/Project Management/Business Administration or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in programme or project management within the nonprofit, health, or development sector.
  • Proven experience in working with donor-funded projects and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of the South African health system and/or haematology-related programmes will be an advantage.
