1. Position Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) – Sub‑Saharan Africa is responsible for expanding IDS Part of Hexagons' commercial footprint within the region. The role centres on developing and managing Distribution Partners, driving structured BRMs, establishing joint business plans, identifying new partners, and supporting overall market growth. This position requires strong channel development capability, commercial insight, and deep understanding of customer needs across the Sub‑Saharan African landscape.
2. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Distribution Partner Management
Manage, strengthen and develop relationships with Distribution Partners across Sub‑Saharan Africa.
Conduct BRMs, quarterly reviews, and build annual business plans with each partner.
Provide coaching, product knowledge sessions and sales support to ensure partner growth.
Monitor partner performance, pipeline activity and adherence to agreed objectives.
Channel Expansion & Market Development
Identify, evaluate and appoint new Distribution Partners in strategic markets.
Conduct market analysis to determine the best methods of expanding market presence.
Drive market penetration through targeted channel development and dealer enablement.
Sales & Revenue Enablement
Support partners with opportunity qualification, demonstrations and tender efforts.
Maintain accurate pipeline forecasts and ensure partners submit orders aligned to forecast.
Prepare periodic sales reports, business performance reviews and revenue forecasts.
Customer & Market Engagement
Present and demonstrate IDS Part of Hexagons' product range and related benefits to customers.
Develop a deep understanding of regional customer needs and industry challenges.
Represent IDS Part of Hexagon at exhibitions, conferences and tradeshows.
Strategic Collaboration
Work closely with the Regional Manager on strategy development, market entry and regional growth projects.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure partner success.
Align business development activities with company objectives and market priorities.
3. Skills & Competencies
Experience in channel and distributor management.
Strong relationship‑building, negotiation and communication skills.
Commercial awareness with forecasting and pipeline management capability.
Analytical mindset with ability to conduct market studies and identify growth opportunities.
Ability to travel extensively across Sub‑Saharan Africa.
4. Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
Engineering, Geomatics, Mining or related field.5–8 years' experience in Buiness Development, Channel Management or Sales.
Experience working with partners in Sub‑Saharan Africa is advantageous.
Knowledge of geospatial, surveying or mining technologies (preferred).
