General Reinsurance, Cape Town Branch (a subsidary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for  Segment Pricing Actuary (Australia & NZ) in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

Key Responsibilities

offers an excellent opportunity for a Segment Pricing Actuary (Australia & NZ)  based in our Cape Town office. A
fantastic opportunity for exposure to new markets.

This role is for a pricing actuary to join our
Segment pricing team based in Cape Town, working closely with our Australian
office to provide support with pricing, in-force management and development of
bases for Australia and New Zealand.  The
ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, communication skills and an
in-depth knowledge of the Life Health insurance and reinsurance industry.

Primary
responsibilities for this role will be:

  • Responsible for the development of Terms of Trade/ Pricing Bases for Australia and New Zealand
  • Responsible for management of In-force treaties and pricing reviews on existing business
  • Support with tenders from existing and new clients
  • Risk Exposure assessment and management

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:   

  • Qualified actuary with a minimum of 5 years experience
  • Experience in pricing of retail business
  • Prepared to work across multiple time zones
  • Highly collaborative in working style & approach
  • Able to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills that enables them to summarise complex information
  • Exposure to mortality and morbidity experience studies

Desired:

  • Reinsurance pricing experience would be an advantage
  • Experience of Australian and / or New Zealand life insurance an advantage
  • Actuarial modelling skills (GGY Axis an advantage)
  • Coding skills in VBA, SQL, R or other statistical coding environments
  • An interest in analytics and modelling mortality/morbidity experience
