Role Description

The purpose of the role is to ensure the accurate and timeous payment of creditors, through timeous capturing of invoices, the preparation of supplier reconciliations, dealing with queries, and ensuring compliance with the Lactalis financial policies and

procedures

This is role for a Temp Assistant Accountant at our Head Office in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa. The Assistant Accountant will handle daily financial transactions, assist with data entry, and ensure the accuracy of financial records. Responsibilities include reconciliations, assisting with financial reporting, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, and collaborating with the accounting team to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:


• Three-way matching and processing of invoices.


• Reconciling vendor accounts and preparing documentation for payment of creditors.


• Following up on account queries by interaction with factory/HO staff and vendors


• Involvement in the month end process, including journal preparation and posting.


• Involvement in balance sheet reconciliations of selected accounts.


• Ad hoc financial reporting requests and tasks as required.

Required Skills:


• Accounting degree, diploma, or similar qualification


• 2- 3 years' experience as a creditors clerk in a manufacturing environment.


• Knowledge of processing creditors transactions on an ERP system.


• Knowledge of processing import creditors advantageous.


• Ability to work independently and in a team.


• Good attention to detail and deadline driven.


• Good interpersonal skills, communication, and ability to handle suppliers.


• Willingness to work overtime when required.


• Computer Literate (MS Office, Word & Excel)
