Position: Head Chef

Location: Cape Town

We are seeking an experienced and creative Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and elevate our culinary offerings. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and excels at managing a team while maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Responsibilities:

Menu Development:

  • Design innovative and seasonal menus that align with the restaurant's concept and target market.
  • Ensure all dishes reflect creativity, quality, and consistency.

Team Leadership:

  • Train, and manage the kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating exceptional culinary skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Schedule and delegate tasks effectively to meet service and prep demands.

Kitchen Operations:

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Monitor food preparation, portion sizes, and presentation to maintain consistency.
  • Manage inventory, reduce food waste, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.

Financial Management:

  • Plan and manage food costs, ensuring profitability without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with management on budget planning and supplier negotiations.
  • Track and minimise wastage to meet financial goals.

Compliance & Hygiene:

  • Ensure the kitchen complies with all food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
  • Conduct regular checks to maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen.

Customer Experience:

  • Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.
  • Address guest feedback and adapt menus or dishes as needed to meet expectations.

Requirements:

· Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume, high-quality kitchen.

· Culinary degree or equivalent experience.

· Strong knowledge of food trends, techniques, and ingredients.

· Excellent leadership and team management skills.

· Proficiency in kitchen operations, budgeting, and cost control.

· Ability to thrive under pressure and maintain composure during peak hours.

· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Effective communicator with staff and management.

· Problem-solving mindset and ability to adapt quickly.
