Senior Accountant (Mandarin & English Speaking)

Location: Somerset West

Working Hours: Full-time, Office-based (08:00 – 16:00)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Financial Account Manager to lead and oversee the finance function of our business. Based in Somerset West, this is a permanent, office-based role suited to an experienced professional with strong leadership skills and a solid background in financial management.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing the full accounting function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial processes. Experience in the technology or construction industry will be considered an advantage.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (essential)
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken) — essential
  • Professional qualification (SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA or equivalent) highly advantageous
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in financial/accounting management roles
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage Accounting (essential)
  • Experience with Sage Pastel or Xero (advantageous)
  • Advanced MS Excel and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Knowledge of the technology or construction industry (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the full accounting function, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and reconciliations
  • Prepare, review, and present monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning
  • Supervise and mentor junior finance staff, ensuring professional development and high-quality output
  • Maintain and enhance financial systems, controls, and processes
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, and tax authorities when required
  • Provide strategic financial insight and recommendations to management
  • Support the business with cost control, efficiency improvements, and profitability analysis
