Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced 
Draftsman

with proven expertise in 
precision engineering

and the generation of 
detailed 2D fabrication drawings from 3D models

. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the 
FMCG sector

, particularly in 
food and beverage production environments

, where hygienic design, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards are critical.

This role involves interpreting complex 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.) and producing high-quality, dimensionally accurate 2D manufacturing drawings for stainless steel fabrications, process equipment, conveyors, tanks, and piping systems.

Key Responsibilities


•  Generate 
detailed 2D fabrication drawings

from 
3D CAD models

(including isometric, orthographic, and sectional views).


•  Ensure drawings include 
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

, weld symbols, material specifications, and surface finish requirements.


•  Collaborate with design engineers to refine 3D models for manufacturability (DFM).


•  Produce 
BOMs (Bill of Materials)

and cutting lists for fabrication.


•  Adhere to 
FMCG hygienic design standards

(e.g., EHEDG, 3A, FDA compliance).


•  Revise drawings based on engineering change notices (ECNs) and site feedback.


•  Support shop floor with technical clarifications during fabrication and installation.

Essential Requirements


•  
Minimum 3–5 years

of experience as a Draftsman in 
precision engineering

.


•  
Proven ability to convert 3D models into detailed 2D fabrication drawings

.


•  
Direct experience in FMCG

, specifically 
food and beverage production

(e.g., dairy, bottling, bakery, or meat processing plants).


•  Advanced proficiency in 
AutoCAD 2D

and 
SolidWorks

(or Inventor/CATIA).


•  Strong knowledge of 
stainless steel fabrication

, sheet metal, and piping layouts.


•  Familiarity with 
P&IDs

, 
GA drawings

, and 
equipment layout drawings

.


•  Understanding of 
ASME, ISO, and SANS standards

.

Qualifications


•  National Diploma or Certificate in 
Mechanical Engineering

, 
Draughting

, or related field.


•  ECSA registration (advantageous).


•  Valid driver's license and own transport (site visits may be required).
