Overview

You as Security Officer, are employed to be vigilant and professional and to ensure the safety and security of the site. You will maintain a welcoming and secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff while upholding site-specific policies, procedures, rules, regulations and instructions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Access/Egress Control: Monitor and control access/egress to the site, ensuring only authorised individuals are permitted entry and .
  • All visitors and contractors entering need to be met at the gate/security office by the relevant resident and signed in and out at security access control point without fail.
  • Patrol Duties: Conduct regular foot patrols to identify and address potential safety or security issues, including suspicious activities, safety hazards, or maintenance concerns.
  • Incident Reporting: Document and report all security incidents, maintenance issues, and violations of site procedure policies (SOP) to Area Manager.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including fire alarms, medical incidents, or security breaches, following established protocols and Site Operational Procedures.
  • Policy Enforcement: Enforce community rules, regulations, and parking policies to maintain order and a safe environment.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with residents, visitors/contractors, staff and your Area Manager.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.

Certifications:

  • Valid PSIRA C grade security guard license (as required by local regulations).
  • First Aid.

Other Requirements:

  • No criminal record as per SAPS.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
