Collections Specialist

About the Position Mimecast Finance is seeking a Senior Collections Specialist to join our team. In this advanced role, you will independently manage the most complex and high-value accounts, resolve escalated issues, and drive process improvements within the Accounts Receivable function. You will play a key role in optimizing collections strategies, analyzing trends, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure the financial health of the organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Independently manage a portfolio of complex, high-value, or high-risk customer accounts to ensure timely payment and minimal delinquency.
  • Resolve escalated or sensitive collection issues, including negotiating payment solutions and collaborating with sales, customer service, and management as needed.
  • Analyze collection trends and account performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations to improve processes and reduce outstanding receivables.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives within the Accounts Receivable department, including documentation, automation, and policy updates.
  • Oversee account adjustments, reconciliations, and cash/ACH application for complex transactions.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on collections performance, risks, and opportunities to management.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for collections processes and systems, supporting cross-functional projects and initiatives.

What We are Looking For:

  • 5+ years of corporate collections and accounts receivable experience, with a proven track record of managing complex or high-value accounts.
  • Advanced knowledge of billing, collections procedures, and ERP systems (Netsuite or comparable).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in metrics reporting and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite; advanced Excel skills preferred.
