Payroll Manager

We're looking for an experienced
Payroll Manager
to lead the payroll function for a large, fast-paced operation with 3,000+ employees. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, timely salary payments and full compliance with South African labour laws and bargaining council agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of payroll professionals.
  • Oversee full payroll cycle across multiple regions and earning structures.
  • Ensure accurate processing on Sage 300 People (Payroll & HR).
  • Scrutinize payroll inputs including overtime, commissions, allowances, medical aid, NBC, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with BCEA, LRA, Income Tax Act, UIF, PAYE, SDL, and NBC agreements.
  • Administer and reconcile third-party payments (SARS, medical aid, pension, loans, etc.).
  • Submit statutory returns (EMP201, EMP501, IRP5s, ROE, Equity).
  • Resolve complex payroll queries and drive process improvements.
  • Support audits and maintain strong internal controls.

Requirements:

  • BCom or equivalent in Payroll, Finance, or HR.
  • Payroll Management certification (e.g., SAPA, Sage).
  • 10+ years' payroll experience, 7+ years in leadership.
  • Proven experience with high-volume payroll (preferably 5,000+ employees).
  • Strong Sage 300 People proficiency.
  • Deep knowledge of South African labour legislation and NBC agreements.
