Our client, a Specialist Doctor based in Pinelands, is seeking to recruit a well presented and experienced Medical Receptionist. to join their team. The practice is run by a doctor whom you'll be working with directly. This role requires someone organized, personable, and comfortable interacting with patients and clients, with a strong understanding of medical environments. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 – 5 years' experience within this industry.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Answer phone calls and handle patient inquiries efficiently

Schedule patient appointments and manage the calendar

Conduct reminder calls to patients about their upcoming appointments

Collect and record patient demographic information accurately

Act as a liaison between the clinic and patients, ensuring smooth communication

Greet and assist patients in a courteous and kind manner, whether in person or telephonically

Maintain records and accounts

Attend to patient enquiries

Run an efficient diary and appointment schedule

Keep patients informed if the Dr is running late and manage service delays professionally.

Efficient filing and retrieving of patient records

Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording and updating personal and financial information

Obtain and update authorisations from the medical aids for admissions and any chronic/PMB applications

Maintain practice inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs

Attend to patient emergencies

Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information

Work seamlessly as part of a team

Ensure a neat and tidy reception area

Uphold the value and protocols of the practice

General administration

Qualifications & Requirements:

Matric

Tertiary qualification will be adv.

Minimum of 4 - 5 years' experience in a similar medical receptionist position

Medical software experience will be an advantage

Experience with medical billing will be advantageous

Knowledge of medical terminology and medical aid systems would be a strong benefit
