Introduction

In need of Fruit Marketer, which will evolve into Exports. Procurement knowledge is essential.

Duties & Responsibilities

During the local season:

  • Procurement of grapes and stone fruit from local producers.

  • This also includes communicating prices/MGPs to producers (per week/per variety/per variety group, etc.).

  • Liaison and communication with producers (this also includes quality reports and claims).

  • Selling available stock to clients at agreed profit margins.

  • Staying informed/up to date on current market prices and market conditions and making marketing decisions accordingly.

  • Assisting with collecting outstanding debtors.

  • Signing off payments to producers.

During the import season:

  • Sales of imported product.

  • Assisting the Egyptian and Spanish procurement teams with forecasting so that the correct product is ordered.

  • Reporting quality problems and/or claims to the procurement team.

  • Performing QCs from time to time in Johannesburg.

  • Assisting with collecting outstanding debtors.

  • Allocation of stock.

  • Off-loading instructions to transporters and packhouses.

  • Arranging transport for orders that need to be delivered.

  • Creating A-loads on QX.

  • Keeping track of and signing off certain costs, e.g. transport, repacking, overtime, cold room costs, etc.

  • Export possibilities: If the person shows the potential and promise to become involved in export marketing.

    For export purposes, the candidate will be involved in the following:

  • Weekly farm visits (procurement and/or packhouse support).

  • Providing feedback and required data to the marketing team.

  • Analysis of various EU/UK market reports.

  • Careful management and monitoring of shipping schedules.

  • Assisting with stock management and allocation of cartons to specific receivers.

  • Collecting arrival reports / QC reports.

  • Collecting temperature reports during shipment (Captain Peter).

  • Follow-up and communication with specific clients regarding sales in the EU/UK and collection of account sales.

  • Signing off exported containers for payment to producers.

  • Assisting with collecting outstanding EU/UK debtors.

  • Travel to clients where necessary.
