Description

The Practitioner in Emergency Services plays a vital role in safeguarding lives and protecting company assets. This position is responsible for responding to all emergency situations, including fire, hazardous materials (HAZMAT), rescue operations, and medical assistance, withy key foucs on emergency response, equipment readiness, fire prevention and operational support 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Emergency Services Team Manager in compiling fire risk profiles

  • Respond to HAZMAT incidents and medical emergencies

  • Maintain life during emergencies, through patient stabilization, ambulance response, transport patients etc..

  • Attend plant safety meetings and monthly departmental meeting and safety meetings

  • Assist in investigations of fire and emergency incidents.

  • Perform fire prevention inspections and maintenance

  • Participate in self audits and reports 

  • Adhoc task that amongst other include standby, inspection vehicle maintenance

  • Present Training as and when required

Requirements

Qualification:

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Basic Ambulance Assistance
  • Fire Man Certificate or Fire Fighter 1 & 2
  • Hazmat Awareness/ Hazmat Awarenss and Operational
  • Rope Technician 1
  • Advantageous: Rope Technician 2, Hazmat Technician, AEA

 

License requirement:

  • Code C driver's license with valid PDrP

Experience:

A minumum of 3 years of relevant experience in Firefighting, Hazmat incidents / Awareness, Medical response and assistance / BAA, Rope rescue, Fire systems and portable fire equipment, Commissioning of fire systems on request

Placement at a particular grade is contingent upon management's decision as well as additional factors deemed appropriate.Knowledge Requirements:

  • Proven competency on Fire systems and portable fire equipment.
  • Proven competency in Commissioning of fire systems Sound knowledge and understanding of the business/industry relevant processes
  • Basic Life Support (BAA) / Intermediate Life Support (AEA advantageou

Competencies/Skills:

  • Emergency Reponses and Crisis Management
  • Risk and Compliance management: Hazard identification, risk assessment and control
  • Familiarity with ISO standard
  • Deep understanding of OHSA
