About Sibona Ilanga Trust

Sibona Ilanga Trust was established by De Aar Solar Power under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer (REIPP) Programme to help address South Africa's electricity shortage. The Trust owns 8% of the De Aar Solar Power plant and uses dividends to drive meaningful socio-economic development. About the Role

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic
Social Media & Content Writing Intern
to join our team. This is a
paid, on-site internship
where you'll gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, and communications while contributing to impactful community-focused work.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Assist in developing content strategies for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp channels
  • Create, schedule, and manage social media posts
  • Write engaging captions tailored to each platform
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions
  • Track performance metrics and suggest improvements
  • Research social media trends and competitor activity

Content Writing & Copywriting

  • Write content for websites, posters, newsletters, and email campaigns
  • Research industry-related topics to produce relevant content
  • Proofread and edit content for clarity and accuracy
  • Repurpose long-form content into short-form social media pieces

Creative Content Support

  • Create visuals, infographics, and basic video content (Canva, Adobe, etc.)
  • Assist with creative ideas for campaigns and promotions
  • Support scriptwriting for short-form videos and marketing materials

Campaign & Strategy Support

  • Assist with planning and executing social media and content campaigns
  • Conduct audience research to improve engagement and reach

Expected Deliverables

  • Weekly social media content calendar
  • Quarterly newsletter content for all three Trusts
  • Engagement tracking and insights reports
  • Creative ideas and campaign support

Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently studying or recently completed a qualification in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Good understanding of social media platforms and trends
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools (Hootsuite, Buffer, or similar)
  • Experience with Canva or Adobe Suite is an advantage
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
