Shift Manager – Cape Town | 24/7 Managed Services | Senior L2 Lead

We're seeking an experienced
Senior L2 Engineer
ready to take the next step into leadership as a
Shift Manager
within a leading
UK-based Managed Services Provider (MSP)
.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role overseeing a 24/7 team of
L2 Engineers
who provide critical IT, Network, and Voice support to UK customers. The Shift Manager will lead the shift, handle escalations, maintain SLA performance, and ensure the highest level of customer service at all times.

About the Role

As Shift Manager, you will manage the operational performance of your shift team, balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical troubleshooting. You will coach engineers, monitor workloads, manage escalations, and ensure all tickets are resolved within SLA. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement, process adherence, and team development.

Shift Structure


• 48 hours per 8-day period


• 4 days on, 4 days off rotation


• Alternating day and night shifts (06:30–18:30 and 18:30–06:30 UK time)


• Based in our Cape Town office

Technical & Leadership Requirements


• Minimum 3+ years as an
L2 Engineer
in an MSP or IT Support environment


• Strong experience in
Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, and Voice Systems


• Proven ability to handle technical escalations independently


• Prior experience mentoring or leading other engineers


• Excellent English communication skills and strong customer service approach


• ITIL Foundation or equivalent certification advantageous
