Senior SAP Basis Consultant

Key purpose:

As a Senior Basis Consultant, you will provide consulting services to clients. You will be working with business users on their SAP applications and integrating them into our products. You will also help businesses use these solutions more effectively for further development of the systems within an organisation. You will be responsible for technical configuration, design, administration, development, implementation and support of application and information frameworks that the company provides to our customers.

The Senior Basis Consultant will be responsible for the planning, installation, configuration, migration and maintenance, Build to Run transition, Production monitoring of SAP instances and associated software tools, building best practices around SAP Migrations and performance optimisation and achieve continuous improvement through tuning.

The individual will also provide assistance and consultation to other infrastructure staff and work within cross-functional teams.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Demonstrates and applies technical (not functional) knowledge of software development frameworks and business process configuration systems. Examples include (not limited to) java application servers, integration and information systems, ERP systems, business rules engines, business process management and .et development frameworks.
• Leverages fluency in technical languages, operating systems, application programming interfaces and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrates knowledge of software development life cycle, modelling of business processes, application design patterns, business/functional documents. Estimates to high level business requirements and provide options analysis.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of infrastructure subcomponents and interoperability including (but not limited to) SAN, network (application routing) and compute platforms.
• Demonstrates knowledge of system information dependencies and end to end application transaction competency.
• Maintains platform or system health and availability requirements including HADR testing.
• Resolves support issues involving production systems.
• Partners with Enterprise Architecture teams for product selection and product capability roadmaps and information governance processes.
• Monitors and manages proactive maintenance to application platform environments documents and manages SOPs for software and information platform systems.
• Interfaces with business solution teams and partners on operational platform events as well as solution design needs

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field required.
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of management.
• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an ability to work independently, and the ability to multi-task.
• Three years of experience in SAP Basis and/or Oracle preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a SAP Basis technical consulting role.
• SAP Certification required.
• Work as SAP Technology SME in SAP Basis/Hana.
• Capacity planning of SAP systems.
• Planning, installation, and maintenance of SAP software.
• Implementation of SAP at an enterprise level and performing migrations.
• Proficiency in SAP Basis, traditional DBs and Hana Administration.
• Provide expertise related to SAP and DB performance, HA/DR, and scalability.
• Monitoring with both ad-hoc tools and automated scripts or procedures.
• Support/recommend reporting, query and analysis tools ensuring efficient SAP/database utilisation.
• Diagnosis of problems and resolution for SAP systems.
• SAP system performance monitoring, alerting (using Solution Manager etc.) and tuning to meet business KPIs.
• Modification of system level configuration to optimize performance.
• Working closely with SAP application teams and other Infrastructure teams.
• Interface with developers and modelers for performance and data access requirements.
• Development of standards and procedures for the SAP environment.
• Consultation with infrastructure teams on configuration best practices etc.
• Stay current with SAP technology developments and techniques, research new software and tools, proactively recommend improvements.
• Evaluation and utilization of software products to assist in the management of SAP eco-system.
• Working experience in Cloud Technologies (GCP/AWS) and hosting SAP Platform on cloud.
• Working experience in Solution Manager configuration Technical Monitoring, Charm, etc.
