Key Responsibilities

·      
Receive and verify import documentation from suppliers
, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with customs and company requirements.

·      
Update and maintain shipping schedules
for various product lines, ensuring real-time visibility of shipment status.

·      
Liaise with clearing agents
to monitor customs clearance, resolve queries, and ensure the timely release of cargo.

·      
Prepare, maintain, and distribute delivery reports
to relevant internal stakeholders.

·      
Track shipment ETA's
, proactively identifying and communicating potential delays.

·      
Monitor and manage demurrage and detention exposure
, ensuring free days are tracked and necessary actions are taken to avoid unnecessary charges.

·      
Follow up with shipping lines, transporters, and
warehouses to ensure smooth end-to-end movement of goods.

·      
Maintain accurate internal records
, including shipment files, tariff codes, and clearance documentation.

·      
Assist in resolving import discrepancies
, supplier documentation issues, or customs queries.

·      
Support internal departments
(sales, warehouse, finance) with shipment updates and documentation requirements.

Minimum Requirements

·      Matric / Grade 12 (essential).

·      A relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, or International Trade (advantageous).

·      Minimum 2–3 years experience in imports, shipping coordination, or clearing & forwarding.

·      Knowledge of customs documentation, import processes, incoterms, and shipping terms.

·      Experience working with clearing agents, shipping lines, and transport providers.

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and shipping/tracking platforms.

Key Skills & Competencies

·      Strong attention to detail and high accuracy with documentation.

·      Excellent communication skills for interacting with suppliers, agents, and internal teams.

·      Ability to prioritize and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.

·      Problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with delays, customs issues, or demurrage risks.

·      Strong organizational and administrative ability.

·      Proactive, deadline-driven, and able to work under pressure.

Good understanding of customs processes, tariffs, and import compliance
