Reporting to the Head of Renewable Energy, the Renewable Energy Engineer will provide expertise in battery energy storage systems and their integration with solar PV plants, wind farms, and other sources. This role focuses on directly supporting the end clients to ensure the successful delivery of projects from the feasibility stage through design, commissioning, and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead assessments of battery storage solutions for renewable energy projects, analysing technical and economic factors to determine project feasibility.
  • Develop and optimise designs for battery energy storage systems that are integrated with solar PV and wind energy projects to maximise efficiency and output.
  • Offer technical expertise and recommendations during all project phases, ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, project teams, and stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and understanding of project goals and milestones.
  • Manage the commissioning process, ensuring that battery storage systems meet all performance criteria before the project handover.
  • Implement monitoring strategies to evaluate the performance of integrated systems post-commissioning and suggest improvements as necessary.
  • Lead the design and design review process, working in collaboration with the client counterparts.
  • Provide supervision and support to the project management team to ensure the successful delivery of mega projects by the EPC contractors.
  • Create thorough documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including reports on design, installation, and performance evaluations.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to renewable energy and battery storage, applying this knowledge to current projects.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering
  • Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer is mandatory
  • 10-15 years delivering electrical engineering projects, with a special focus on renewable energy
  • Strong knowledge of energy storage systems, grid integration strategies, and relevant design standards.
  • Excellent project management skills and a successful track record of delivering projects timely and within budget constraints.
