Sotano, a vibrant Mediterranean-inspired Seafood & Sushi restaurant with a stunning sea view, is looking for a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team. Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of sushi preparation, creative flair, and the ability to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare High-Quality Sushi: Craft sushi dishes including sashimi, nigiri, and maki rolls with precision and creativity, ensuring consistency in presentation and taste.
Maintain Hygiene Standards: Follow strict food safety and hygiene protocols in food preparation and storage.
Ingredient Management: Select and inspect fresh ingredients, manage inventory, and minimise waste.
Customer Interaction: Engage with customers when necessary to explain dishes and accommodate special requests.
Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operations and maintain menu standards.
Innovate: Develop new sushi recipes and contribute ideas for seasonal menu changes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef in a high-volume restaurant environment.
- Expert knife skills and knowledge of sushi-grade fish preparation.
- A passion for Japanese cuisine with the ability to balance tradition and creativity.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
