The position of Patient Accounts Manager exists to provide effective leadership in managing patient accounts at a hospital level. This role will be responsible for leading a team of Patient Accounts clerks as well as ensuring compliance within the department. The incumbent will also ensure service excellence by implementing systems and processes which will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all patient accounts according to financial policy and procedure.

• Monitor debtors and take corrective action where necessary.

• Ensure compliance with credit control procedures.

• Provide regular management information to the CFO on patient account activity.

• Identify areas of non-compliance in relation to Health Fund claiming and work with the relevant parties to resolve these issues.

• Respond to queries from patients regarding their accounts and liaise with Credit Control Department where applicable.

• Work closely with Admission's staff to ensure that patients are aware of their obligations regarding payments and outstanding accounts.

• Work closely with the Financial Counsellor and Insurance companies to ensure that patients receive appropriate assistance with their bills.

• Investigate uninsured patients and implement strategies to reduce bad debts.

• Maintain relationships with private health funds and other insurance providers to resolve problems and disputes relating to claims.

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders including admissions, nursing units, ward clerks, doctors, clinical departments and allied health professionals.

Qualifications

Grade 12 or Equivalent NQF Level 4 Qualification

An understanding of the Netcare Confirmations, Case Management, and File assessing processes.

Minimum three years experience in a medical accounts environment.

Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Highly developed computer skills (Microsoft Office applications).
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
