About the Role

A well-established accounting firm is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Consultant to join our Durban team. The ideal candidate will have strong, hands-on experience in an accounting practice environment, excellent technical tax knowledge, and the ability to independently manage a portfolio of diverse clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete and submit tax returns for corporate, individual, and trust clients
  • Review Annual Financial Statements and tax computations
  • Handle VAT, PAYE, provisional tax, dividends tax, and capital gains submissions
  • Manage tax audits, objections, verifications, and SARS correspondence
  • Assist clients with tax advice, research, and tax opinions
  • Apply for tax clearance certificates and international transfer approvals
  • Update client records and ensure full tax compliance
  • Liaise professionally with clients and internal teams
  • Support with debt compromises, payment plans, and deregistrations
  • Maintain excellent documentation and meet strict deadlines

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related field
  • Registered Tax Practitioner (or eligible to register)
  • 5+ years experience within an accounting firm in a tax-focused role
  • Solid knowledge of the Income Tax Act, SARS procedures, and tax systems
  • Strong experience working on SARS eFiling (required)
  • Experience with GreatSoft (advantageous)
  • SAIT/SAIPA/SAICA Articles completed or in progress (advantageous)
  • Proven practical experience dealing with SARS audits, queries, notices, and objections
  • Competent in Excel and tax research

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: R35 000,00 - R55 000,00 per month
