Overview:

We're seeking a
Senior AI Engineer
to join our client's Data & AI Engineering team, developing enterprise-grade AI solutions that drive innovation across the financial services landscape. You'll play a key role in designing, building, and deploying scalable AI/ML systems that support credit, risk, customer intelligence, and automation initiatives in a regulated, data-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement end-to-end AI/ML solutions that solve complex business problems in banking, insurance, and financial operations.
  • Develop, train, and deploy models for natural language processing (NLP), predictive analytics, and intelligent automation.
  • Build and optimize
    data pipelines
    for large-scale, real-time financial data using
    Apache Spark
    ,
    Kafka
    , and
    ETL frameworks
    .
  • Integrate AI/ML frameworks and LLM orchestration tools such as
    LangChain
    ,
    LangGraph
    , and
    Vector Databases
    (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate).
  • Operationalize models in production via
    MLOps
    tools (SageMaker, MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow).
  • Develop cloud-native applications on
    AWS
    (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, ECS, DynamoDB, SQS).
  • Collaborate with Data Science, Risk, and Product teams to translate business requirements into scalable, explainable AI solutions.
  • Ensure
    model governance
    , auditability, and compliance with
    POPIA
    ,
    FSCA
    , and internal data policies.
  • Contribute to system design reviews, peer code reviews, and mentoring of junior engineers.

Requirements:

  • 6–10 years' professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or AI development.
  • Strong proficiency in
    Python
    (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Proven experience in building and deploying
    machine learning
    and
    LLM-based
    solutions.
  • Experience with
    MLOps
    ,
    CI/CD
    , and version control (GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with
    financial data models
    , risk scoring, or fraud detection systems preferred.
  • Experience with
    API development
    (REST/GraphQL) and
    microservices
    architectures.
  • Strong understanding of
    data security
    ,
    governance
    , and
    model explainability
    frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field (Master's advantageous).
  • Willingness to travel internationally when required.
