Senior Infrastructure & Systems Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure & Systems Manager
to oversee and optimize our server infrastructure hosted in
Rackspace
. This role requires deep expertise in
Windows Server administration, web and database servers, MS SQL Server 2022
, and strong knowledge of
firewalls, APIs, and web services
. The successful candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and security across our diverse application stack, including
Single Page Applications, Classic ASP, and SaaS platforms
.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management
  • Administer and maintain Windows Servers hosted in Rackspace.
  • Oversee web servers and database servers, ensuring uptime and scalability.
  • Manage MS SQL Server 2022 databases, including performance tuning, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Security & Compliance
  • Configure and monitor firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Implement security best practices across servers, APIs, and applications.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and industry standards.
  • Application & Service Support
  • Support and optimize APIs and web services integrations.
  • Oversee deployment and maintenance of Single Page Applications, Classic ASP applications, and SaaS platforms.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines and application performance.
  • Monitoring & Optimization
  • Implement monitoring tools for proactive issue detection.
  • Optimize server performance, resource utilization, and cost efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Work closely with development, product, and business teams to align infrastructure with organizational goals.
  • Manage vendor relationships, particularly with Rackspace and other service providers.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in
    Windows Server administration
    and infrastructure management.
  • Strong expertise in
    MS SQL Server 2022
    (performance tuning, clustering, replication).
  • Proven experience with
    web servers
    (IIS).
  • Hands-on knowledge of
    firewalls, networking, and security protocols
    .
  • Experience managing
    APIs, web services, and integrations
    .
  • Familiarity with
    Single Page Applications (React, Angular, Vue)
    and
    Classic ASP
    environments.
  • Background in
    SaaS application architecture and scaling
    .
  • Proficiency with monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog).
  • Strong scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with
    cloud migration
    and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of
    containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
    .
  • Familiarity with
    DevOps practices
    and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Certifications such as
    MCSE, Azure Solutions Architect, or CISSP
    .

  • Infrastructure hosted in
    Rackspace
    (remote management).
