About the Role

A leading education-focused group company, based in Centurion, Johannesburg and Stellenbosch, is seeking a high-performing Financial Controller to oversee financial reporting, governance, and operational finance. The company is a subsidiary of a Private Education Group.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Governance

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, internal financial controls and policies, and audit standards.
  • Manage general ledger integrity and oversee accurate processing.
  • Lead audit processes and ensure timely delivery of audit requirements.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Drive the annual budgeting cycle in collaboration with department heads.
  • Prepare rolling forecasts and variance commentary for management and group review.
  • Conduct profitability, cash-flow and trend analyses to support strategic decisions.
  • Provide insights on financial risks, opportunities, and performance gaps.

Operational Finance & Controls

  • Accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank, and cashflow management.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and implement process improvements where required.
  • Monitor cost structures and support cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Ensure timely reconciliations, including bank, balance sheet, and intercompany/group entries.

Business Support

  • Provide financial guidance to management and operational teams.
  • Support commercial decisions with accurate financial modelling and scenario planning.
  • Assist with group strategic projects, compliance reviews, policy development, and reporting automation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified CA(SA) – essential.
  • Minimum 2 years post-articles experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and professional accountability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • High emotional maturity and professionalism.
  • Strong leadership potential and collaboration mindset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: R50 000,00 - R75 000,00 per month
