Role Description

The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that all civil engineering construction projects comply with quality standards, project specifications and regulatory requirements. The role involves conducting inspections, implementing quality control measures and adherence with ISO 9001 and South African construction regulations.

Qualifications

  • A completed Matric qualification.
  • A completed Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quality Management or related field of study.
  • A ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification would serve as an advantage.

Experience and Competencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, quality management software and reporting tools.
  • Must have at least acquired 5 years of experience in a quality control role, within the the civil engineering or construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001, SANS, OHSA and construction quality standards.
  • Experience in site inspections, material testing and quality audits.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Ensure that laboratory testing and material certifications are conducted, and documented.
  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with South African National Standards (SANS), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and client specifications.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on quality issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers and Safety Officers to ensure quality objectives are met.
