Role Overview
We are seeking a diligent and experienced
Compliance and Quality Audit Officer
to ensure that internal procedures, workflow policies, and quality standards are consistently applied across all branches of our law firm, which specialises in Road Accident Fund (RAF) and medical malpractice claims.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed file and operational audits, monitoring compliance, supporting staff through training and guidance on procedures, reporting non-compliance, and assisting with corrective action and performance improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
File & Compliance Auditing
- Conduct regular audits of RAF claim files to assess compliance with internal procedures and quality standards.
- Ensure proper file management processes are followed across all stages of the RAF workflow.
- Verify that Legal Suite is updated accurately and timeously.
- Perform sample audits on files falling outside of prescribed practice time frames and escalate issues identified.
Operational Audits
- Carry out onsite office audits across the firm's three branches to evaluate adherence to firm-wide operational protocols.
- Identify discrepancies, procedural lapses, or inefficiencies, and recommend corrective action.
Reporting & Follow-Up
- Compile comprehensive monthly audit reports and statistical summaries.
- Follow up on previous audit findings to confirm implementation of corrective measures and sustained improvement.
- Escalate repeated or serious non-compliance concerns to senior management.
Training & Support
- Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining internal procedure manuals.
- Provide ongoing training and guidance to staff regarding compliance, workflow, and file management requirements.
- Collaborate with file handlers, branch managers, and support staff to ensure uniform compliance across offices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a legal secretary, paralegal, or similar role in a law firm.
- Experience in personal injury law, especially RAF matters, is essential.
- Strong understanding of the RAF claims process, including litigation.
- Familiarity with key RAF-related documents and processes such as prescription periods, Form 1, Form 4, PAJA applications, summons, sheriff's returns, capital and cost payments, etc.
- Proficiency in Legal Suite (required).

Travel Requirements
- Monthly travel to Pretoria or Cape Town branch offices (majority to Pretoria).
- Valid driver's license preferable (not essential – Uber may be used where appropriate).
Remuneration
- Market-related salary, typically in the range of R12 000 – R16 000, depending on experience.
- Salary outside this range may be considered for a highly suitable candidate.
- Travel and subsistence allowances provided.
Additional Information
- Flexi-time or part-time arrangements may be considered (with proportional remuneration), provided the candidate is available for required monthly travel to branch offices.
