ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is a full-time 12-month fixed-contract internship role for a Marketing and Client Support Intern, based in the Johannesburg Metropolitan Area. The intern will support marketing initiatives, conduct market research, assist in executing marketing strategies, and support sales efforts when needed. You will be responsible for generating excitement and acquiring new healthcare providers (our clients) and patients (our customers) through strategic marketing, and then ensuring their success and loyalty through world-class support. Additional responsibilities include delivering high-quality customer service to clients and ensuring their satisfaction by effectively communicating and resolving issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing

  • Content Creation: Develop compelling marketing materials (emails, social media content, one-pagers, blog posts, events, etc.) that clearly articulate Athena's value proposition to healthcare providers and patients.
  • Lead Generation: Execute multi-channel marketing campaigns (email, LinkedIn, targeted outreach, events) to build a pipeline of interested healthcare practices.
  • Digital Presence: Assist in managing our social media channels and website to build brand awareness and credibility within the healthcare sector.
  • Partnership Marketing: Work with the team to create co-marketing initiatives with our partner providers.
  • Feedback Loop: Use insights from client interactions to inform marketing messaging and product development.

Client Support

  • Customer Support
    : Assist in being the point of contact for our partner healthcare providers, answering questions and resolving issues via email, phone, and WhatsApp promptly and professionally.
  • Relationship Management
    : Build strong, trusting relationships with practice managers and administrative staff. Proactively check in to ensure they are successful and happy.
  • Problem Solving
    : Troubleshoot technical or process-related issues, collaborating with the tech team when necessary to find swift solutions.
  • Voice of the Customer
    : Document and synthesise client feedback, feature requests, and pain points to help us continuously improve our product and service

  • Youth: Aged between 18-34
  • Must be currently unemployed
  • Youth must not have participated in a Youth Employment Services Program prior. We can verify this through the YES Portal through the shortlisted ID's.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Graphic Design knowledge and background is non-negotiable.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with clients and address inquiries.
  • Copywriting skills are an advantage.
  • Ability to conduct market research and contribute to developing marketing strategies.
  • Insights and/or exposure in creating marketing content and managing social media channels.
  • Proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively or independently.
  • Previous experience or coursework in marketing, communications, or a related field is advantageous.
