The Sector Head: Mining & Construction is responsible for driving strategic growth and profitability within a well-established national portfolio. This role carries a significant personal sales and profit target, with a small regional team to support. The Sector Head will lead the development and execution of the sector strategy, manage key supplier relationships, and support regional teams in deal origination and execution. The role requires strong commercial acumen, industry expertise, and the ability to influence outcomes across regions.

The Sector Head: Mining & Construction is responsible for driving strategic growth and profitability within a well-established national portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Execute the sector strategy, including origination, credit, pricing, and risk management.
- Own the national sector, including sales budget, book growth, and profitability.
- Support national teams in deal origination, structuring, and closing where appropriate.
- Manage and grow key supplier relationships nationally to maximise business opportunities.
- Identify and build new supplier partnerships to support regional origination efforts.
- Ensure supplier relationships contribute to new business generation across all regions.
- Lead solutioning efforts to position the business as the preferred funder in the sector.
- Share industry knowledge and sales techniques to upskill internal teams.
- Provide sector reporting across key performance areas.
- Collaborate with regional heads to grow and manage the sector portfolio.
Sales Activity & Cadence (For regional mining and construction team)
- Ensure sales pipeline equals 300% of monthly sales budget; work-in-progress equals 500%.
- Oversee submission of required credit applications by team members.
- Monitor supplier and client meeting activity (minimum 20 per month via CRM).
- Identify and record cross-selling opportunities (minimum 2 per month via CRM).
Sales Support & Enablement
- Streamline administrative processes to improve sales team efficiency.
- Develop and maintain sales enablement tools and content.
- Proactively identify and resolve sales process bottlenecks.
- Support lead qualification and prioritization to enhance conversion rates.
Team Leadership & Development
- Foster collaboration and support within the sales team.
- Promote accountability for team outcomes and performance.
- Coach team members to improve sales skills and results.
- Build a positive and motivating team culture to drive engagement and success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification or industry certification (advantageous).
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in sales or business development, preferably within asset finance or corporate sales.
Required Skills
- Strategic thinking and commercial acumen.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
- Deep understanding of credit, pricing, and risk in asset finance.
- Ability to develop and execute sector-specific strategies.
- Proficiency in CRM and reporting tools.

- Proven experience managing large portfolios and achieving financial targets.
- Strong background in supplier relationship management and strategic partnerships, in the mining and construction industry.
- Experience working across regional teams and supporting national sales efforts.
