Job Title: Senior Construction Manager

Location: Johannesburg, Extensive Travel

Salary: ± R1,200,000 per annum (CTC)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to lead and oversee large-scale residential property developments. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned professional with 20+ years of experience in the construction industry who is passionate about sharing knowledge, mentoring teams, and giving back to the industry.

The Senior Construction Manager will be responsible for driving project delivery, ensuring quality, and managing people across multiple sites. The role requires a hands-on leader who can balance technical excellence with strategic oversight while developing the next generation of talent in the sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end delivery of large-scale residential property development projects.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to project teams, site managers, and contractors.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Develop and implement construction strategies, schedules, and methodologies.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders including developers, contractors, consultants, and local authorities.
  • Monitor compliance with all legal, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement, knowledge transfer, and innovation across the business.
  • Travel regularly to project sites to provide hands-on oversight and support.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 20+ years' proven experience in large-scale construction management, ideally within residential property development.
  • Strong track record of delivering multi-million rand developments successfully.
  • Exceptional people management and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, project management, and compliance requirements.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly between sites.
