Overall Responsibility

The Quality Controller collaborates with HODs and production team leaders to ensure that all quality-related company procedures are adhered to and that products meet internal quality standards.

Focus Area 1

Quality Governance

  • Collaborate with HODs and Team Leaders to ensure compliance with quality management systems
  • Ensure sufficient resources are available on shift to conduct verification checks and inspections on the shop floor
  • Ensure compliance with company quarantine protocols for raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods
  • Ensure that production activities comply with food safety standards

Focus Area 2

Quality Reporting

  • Ensure sustainability of Level 1 quality parameter reporting
  • Continuously analyse quality parameters and report on emerging trends and opportunities

Focus Area 3

Coaching and Training of Production & Quality Staff

  • Collaborate with HODs, production team leaders and SQTs to identify training needs
  • Conduct training and assessments of Team Leaders, SQTs and shift operators

Focus Area 4

 Lab Equipment Maintenance

  • Ensure sufficient resources are available to maintain lab equipment required for Quality at Source
  • Ensure a resource is in place for first-level problem-solving support for all lab instruments used for quality-at-source analysis, followed by OEM call-outs where required

Focus Area 5

Supports Manufacturing Excellence

  • Support the implementation of Quality pillar requirements
  • Comply with SHE pillar requirements
  • Participate in problem-solving activities
  • Support the Quality 5S drive

Requirements of the Role

  • Tertiary diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, Analytical Science or related field
  • Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in an FMCG environment

Preferred Skills / Competencies

  • Ability to communicate clearly, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to work under pressure
