Role Overview
The Financial Controller will manage and oversee all financial operations, controls and reporting for the company. This includes ensuring accurate and timely financial statements, budgeting & forecasting, financial compliance (including healthcare-specific regulations), revenue recognition, and improving financial processes to support rapid growth. The role is strategic but also hands-on, working closely with leadership to provide insights for decision making, cost control, and ensuring scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP / local accounting standards.
- Maintain integrity of general ledger; ensure all entries are accurate, complete, and properly documented.
Manage consolidation (if multiple entities), intercompany transactions, and accounting of digital subscriptions or service contracts.
Revenue Recognition / Billing
Ensure correct and compliant recognition of revenue from virtual consultations, subscription plans, digital services.
- Review contracts and agreements with providers / payors to ensure proper accounting treatment (e.g., long-term contracts, milestone billing).
Oversee billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, reconciliation of patient/provider/partner payments.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles.
- Monitor variance analysis; identify trends, cost overruns, opportunities for cost control.
Develop financial models to support new product launches, partnerships, scaling, market expansion.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Manage cash flow forecasts; ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
Oversee payables, receivables, and other assets/liabilities.
Internal Controls, Compliance & Audits
Implement and maintain strong internal controls aligned with healthcare regulation (privacy, patient data, etc.), financial controls, and risk management.
- Coordinate external audits and work with auditors.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, licensing, and governance requirements.
Process Improvement & Systems Oversight
Evaluate and improve financial processes (closing cycles, billing, data capture, reporting).
- Oversee finance systems / ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite, QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP) ensuring they support scalability.
Develop dashboards / KPIs.
Team Leadership
Manage a finance team (e.g., accountants, reconciliations, AR/AP).
- Mentor, coach, develop capabilities and ensure high performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA or local equivalent) highly preferred.
- 5–8+ years of progressive finance experience; minimum of 2–3 years in a management / controller role.
- Skilled in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting.
- Excellent ERP / accounting system experience; comfortable working with data analytics tools.
