We are partnering with a leading organization in South Africa's financial infrastructure sector. They play a critical role in enabling real-time payment processing across the country. This is a rare opportunity to join a mission-critical "Web Team" within a well-established organization that combines stability with modern technology practices.

This role goes beyond writing code; it is about modernizing the gateway to financial inclusion. You will step into a high-impact environment to support the Web Team in advancing strategic and regulatory payment solutions. Your mission is to bridge the gap between complex backend Java logic and modern React frontends while driving the adoption of cloud-native technologies (AWS/Kubernetes). You will be instrumental in ensuring that payment products not only meet rigorous SLAs but are also scalable, secure, and ready for the future of digital finance.

Performance Objectives for Year One

  • Architect & Modernize Web Solutions: Lead the design and development of robust full-stack solutions using Java (Spring/Hibernate) and React, specifically targeting the enhancement of the company's web-based payment portals within the first 6 months.
  • Drive Cloud Migration & Optimization: Actively contribute to the containerization and orchestration of applications by implementing Docker and Kubernetes workflows, ensuring seamless deployment to AWS infrastructure.
  • Elevate DevOps Maturity: Re-engineer and optimize CI/CD pipelines (Git/GitLab) to reduce deployment times and increase code quality, establishing new best practices for the wider development team.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence: Take ownership of the product portfolio's health by managing complex incidents to resolution, analyzing performance statistics, and maintaining system uptime in line with critical financial industry SLAs.

Profile for Success

  • Track Record: Proven success (5+ years) in a hybrid "Analyst Programmer" or Full Stack Engineering role, with specific evidence of delivering high-availability software in the financial or enterprise sector.
  • Tech Stack Fluency: Deep technical command of Java (Spring Frameworks) combined with modern frontend expertise (React/TypeScript).
  • Cloud Native Mindset: Demonstrated experience deploying applications in cloud environments (AWS) using containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Analytical Rigor: A history of not just fixing bugs, but analyzing root causes and implementing long-term architectural fixes.
