Manager: Business Analyst

As part of your portfolio as
Manager: Business Analyst,
you will be:

• The Manager: Business Analyst is responsible for the management of system delivery projects for the Digital Channels function.
• The Manager will co-ordinate, track, and implement the business system integration and prioritise and set competing constraints within a complex system environment.
• The Business Analyst role will participate in large enterprise projects and programmes supporting one or more work streams and multiple business teams.
• The Business Analyst will be able to quickly integrate and develop a clear understanding of the business teams they represent, be self-motivated and resourceful, and have a strong aptitude for creative problem solving.
• This role requires the ability to understand financial-related work streams and help drive successful implementation of requirements and process.

Strategy Development and Implementation

• Provide reports and analysis to support and contribute to the development of the functional strategy in line with the overarching business goals
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to enable the regular review of the functional strategy, roadmap and performance to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem

Operational Delivery

Lead & Plan

• Prioritize and plan work activities within the Feature Team
• Facilitate discovery/inception workshops to align on user needs and technical solutions

Requirements & User Stories

• Identify and map user journeys across the system
• Elicit, groom and document user stories through interviews and workshops
• Capture and maintain business rules and data definitions
• Define clear acceptance criteria and derive test cases

Backlog Management

• Manage the Feature Team backlog in JIRA, ensuring stories are correctly assigned to epics
• Review, refine, and re‑prioritize stories to address blockers or changing business value

Iteration Ceremonies

• Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives
• Obtain formal sign‑off during iteration reviews

Quality & Testing

• Produce and execute acceptance tests against acceptance criteria
• Provide continuous feedback on deliverables and ensure they meet business goals
• Collaborate on system testing strategy, test case development, and scenario creation

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Management, UX, DevOps, QA, and support teams
• Act as liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating complex requirements into actionable tasks
• "Wear different hats" – designer, tester, facilitator, product owner, as needed

Continuous Improvement

• Identify process improvements and drive adoption of best practices
• Mentor junior analysts, share knowledge, and champion effective analysis techniques

The "Must-haves" we look for in an incumbent

Education:

• Education
  : Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or related field
• Certifications (preferred)
  :
• CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI‑PBA
• Agile/Scrum certification (e.g., CSM, PSM)
• Technical Skills
  :
• Proficiency with JIRA (or equivalent Agile tools)
• Experience with user‑story mapping, process modeling (e.g., BPMN), and wireframing tools
• Familiarity with API integrations, data mapping, and system architecture concepts

Experience:

• 4 + years of progressive experience as a Business Analyst in a technology driven environment
• 2 + years specifically within fintech, mobile money, or financial services
• Proven track record of delivering complex, cross functional projects in an Agile/Scrum setting
• Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, clarify requirements, and drive consensus
• Demonstrated leadership in facilitation, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Team Management of different stakeholders across different verticals in African markets
• Prior experience in Product Development & Implementation in a Fintech Company preferred.
• Experience at the management level in the financial sector
• Experience working in a medium to large organization.
• Deep understanding of the Fintech ecosystem, players, business models and industry related best practices
• Experience working across global locations/ regions and have a grasp of political, social, infrastructure and integrity challenges.
• Understanding emerging markets advantageous
• Willing and flexible to travel within Africa and Middle East
• English speaker. French language being an added advantage.
