Café Assistant (Barista Experience Required – Franschhoek)

A well-established tourism company in Franschhoek is looking for a motivated, personable Café Assistant to join our lively café environment. This position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about hospitality and committed to creating memorable guest experiences.

Please note: A minimum of 1 year of hands-on barista experience is essential for this role. You must be confident and capable of producing high-quality coffee consistently during busy service periods.

What You'll Do

  • Craft all beverages and menu items to a high standard, with a strong focus on professional barista-style coffee preparation.
  • Support daily stock management, including stock counts and reporting shortages.
  • Deliver warm, attentive, and professional service to every guest.
  • Follow all company procedures and food-safety guidelines to ensure a clean and compliant workspace.
  • Assist with point-of-sale duties and provide occasional support to the kitchen team.
  • Report any equipment issues promptly to management.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 1 year of barista experience (required).
  • Understanding of food handling, kitchen hygiene, and safety best practices.
  • Experience operating a POS system.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Ability to stay calm, organised, and efficient during high-pressure service times.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm for learning, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Reliable transport.

Qualifications

  • Matric (required).
  • Formal barista training or certification (advantageous).
