Account Executive

We're looking for a Senior Account Executive to drive revenue growth by securing and managing client accounts. This is a role for someone who thrives on building relationships, closing deals, and shaping Jem's impact in the market. We are open to people based in Cape Town or in Johannesburg.
Roles and Responsibilities
Prospecting & Lead Generation
- Identify and qualify ICP clients through research, networking, and cold outreach.
- Leverage social media and professional networks to build a consistent flow of leads.
- Act as a Jem brand ambassador, clearly communicating our unique value.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with new and existing clients.
- Tailor presentations and proposals to align with client needs.
- Design and implement strategies to achieve and exceed MRR targets.
- Own the full sales cycle, from first touch to closed deal, with minimal oversight.
- Keep CRM updated with accurate pipeline data and follow-up actions.
- Lead commercial negotiations, address objections, and secure favorable terms.
- Ensure contracts align with company goals and client success.
- Track and report sales activity and progress against targets.
- Analyze market and competitor activity to sharpen sales strategy.
- Partner with sales, marketing, and leadership to refine lead generation tactics.
- Share client feedback with product and service teams to improve Jem's offering.
- Proven track record in B2B SaaS sales with consistent quota achievement.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Skilled in CRM management and pipeline accuracy.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Self-driven, resilient, and comfortable working in a fast-scaling startup.

We aim to move candidates through our interview process in no more than 10 working days. For this role, there are five steps:
CV Application & Video: Submit your CV, answer some questions, and record a short video answering a specific question so we can get to know you beyond your CV.
Sales Task (Take-Home): A short 48-hour take-home task designed to showcase your sales thinking and approach. It won't take you more than 1-2 hours.
Technical Interview: A 30-minute conversation with Chris Hellmann, your potential manager. He'll dive into your sales experience, explore your approach to closing deals, and give you space to ask questions.
In-Person Workshop: A collaborative session in our office (Cape Town or Johannesburg) with members of our team. You'll meet the people you'd be working with, see our space, and tackle real-world sales scenarios together.
Founder Interview: A 45-minute session with Caroline van der Merwe, our co-founder and COO, to explore team fit and culture alignment.
