Oral Hygienist

Requirements:

• Diploma / Degree in Oral Hygiene from an accredited institution

• Registration with the HPCSA in the category independent practice, and proof of current registration

• Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience

• Driver's licence is a requirement

• Knowledge of and skills in clinical oral hygiene to provide professional treatment for the patient

• Experience in supervising and assessing students in clinical environments is an advantage

• Understanding of current health and public service legislation, regulations and policies; including related to training of students

• Report writing skills are an advantage

• Good interpersonal and communication skills

Duties:

• Provide a comprehensive array of assessment and treatment procedures within the Oral Hygienist scope of practice

• Clinically supervise and assess Oral Hygiene students

• Practice and maintain infection control standards, in addition ensure adherence to strict quality control measures

• Provide reports of student outreach/ETP and clinical activities

• Monitor and ensure correct use of oral hygiene equipment by all students and staff.

• Participate in student outreach activities and service learning projects.

• Participate and facilitate in continuous professional development (CPD) as required by HPCSA

• Ensure client's rights and patients' rights as per National Patients' Rights Charter and Batho Pele Principles
