Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role based in Pinetown for a Human Resources Officer. The professional in this role will manage daily HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll processing, and employee benefits. Responsibilities also include handling employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws, overseeing training and development programs, and maintaining personnel records. Additionally, the HR Officer will support strategic initiatives to foster a positive work environment and enhance organizational performance.
Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately and timeously.
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure all changes (new hires, terminations, increases, deductions) are processed correctly.
- Verify timesheets, overtime, leave, and allowances.
- Generate and distribute payslips.
- Handle payroll-related queries.
- Prepare payroll reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with SARS, UIF, SDL, COIDA, Bargaining Council and Trade Union requirements.
Human Resources Administration
- Assist with the full HR administration function, including onboarding and offboarding.
- Maintain and update employee files and HR records.
- Draft employment contracts, warnings, and HR notices.
- Medical aid and Provident Fund administration.
- Support performance management.
- Recruitment: posting adverts, screening CVs, and scheduling interviews.
- Coordinate training, BBBEE documentation, and skills development and Employment Equity reporting.
Compliance & Labour Law
- Ensure HR and payroll practices comply with the BCEA, LRA, OHSA, and company policies.
- Stay updated with changes in labour legislation and advise management accordingly.
- Assist with disciplinary hearings and labour-related matters.
General HR Support
- Provide guidance to employees on HR-related issues.
- Promote a positive workplace culture.
- Support HR projects and initiatives as required.
Requirements
- Degree in Human Resources Management
or related (essential). - Minimum
2–3 years HR and payroll experience
. - Strong working knowledge of South African labour laws.
- Experience with payroll systems (Sage Pastel Payroll).
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel essential).
- High attention to detail and strong numerical ability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
