Introduction

Our Worcester division needs a driven, efficient and highly organized Senior Production Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all production operations, ensuring optimal efficiency, safety, and adherence to quality standards across multiple teams and processes.

This role includes strategic production planning, resource optimization, continious improvement initiatives, and leadership to achieve organizational objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties:

  • Motivate and supervise teams to meet performance targets.
  • Will be responsible for production planning, resource management, quality control and team leadership.
  • Manage attendance, discipline, and employee performance.
  • Lead by example in punctuality and professionalism.
  • Conduct time studies and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Ensure efficient use of manpower and materials.
  • Plan and schedule production activities accurately.
  • Ensure products are manufactured to specification and quality standards.
  • Review feedback reports from QC
  • Quick response on any issues arising from quality reports
  • Maintain and develop departmental skills matrix. Identify training needs and support employee development.
  • Contribute to a safe work environment by complying with company occupational health and safety system
  • Always adhere to the production systems and processes
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma and 5S principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Solve technical and process related problems.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Excel and production management software
  • Bilingual in Afrikaans and English
  • Technical and process problem solving skills

  • Punctuality and neat in appearance are very important (must be able to lead by example

Qualifications and skills:

  • National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering
  • 5 – 10 years' experience in Production Management (Engineering / Manufacturing environment)
  • 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Production planning and scheduling
  • Able to read drawings, knowledge of welding processes and materials
  • Knowledge of plate rolling, dish forming, Tig, Mig and plasma welding will be beneficial
  • Experience in stainless steel and Aluminium welding environment will be advantageou
  • Must have experience in a manufacturing environment, experience or basic understanding of manufacturing machines and equipment will be advantages
  • Willing to work shifts, weekends and long hours when required.
