Hazendal Wine Estate Stellenbosch Hills is Hiring

The Tasting Room Ambassador plays a crucial role in creating memorable wine tasting experiences for guests. This part-time position involves engaging with visitors, educating them about the winery's offerings, and fostering relationships to encourage wine club memberships. The ambassador is responsible for daily operations in the tasting room, ensuring excellent customer service while adhering to legal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests warmly as if they are friends.
  • Lead guests through wine tasting experiences, educating them about the winery's story and wines.
  • Develop genuine relationships with guests to convert them into Wine Club members.
  • Effectively suggest and sell wine without being pushy.
  • Support and serve the team in all aspects of tasting room operations.
  • Handle daily operations including opening and closing, stocking products, and maintaining displays.
  • Pour selected wines responsibly according to guidelines and TABC laws.
  • Develop knowledge of wines and winemaking practices to educate guests.
  • Handle POS transactions accurately.
  • Assist customers with large purchases and maintain a clean tasting room.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar environment such as retail, restaurant, hospitality, or customer service.
  • Certificate from WSET Level 1/ Cape Wine Academy/ South African Sommelier Association.
  • Excellent communication and sales skills are essential.
  • Cash handling experience and basic math skills required.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs regularly and stand for six hours.
