Pre-Sales Consultant

First Digital are seeking a highly capable Pre-Sales Consultant to support our rapidly growing sales efforts in the UK, Ireland, and Europe. This position is based in South Africa (Cape Town or Johannesburg), and suitable candidates must have a strong background in selling technology solutions into the UK market. This role is particularly well-suited to UK expats or professionals with direct UK market experience, given the need to understand UK business contexts, customer expectations, and sales engagement styles.
The suitable candidate will act as the dedicated pre-sales specialist for First Digital, shaping technical solutions, supporting proposals, assisting with costing, conducting demos, and guiding UK and European customers through the discovery and decision-making process.
This role works in close collaboration with both the UK sales team and our South African delivery teams, who provide core technical support, solution development, and customer engagement expertise. By bridging business needs with technical delivery, you will enable scalable, high-quality solutions and support the expansion of First Digital's UK operations.
This position is commission-linked, with earnings tied to deal closures supported through your pre-sales activities.
All technical delivery will be handled by our highly skilled South African teams. Your responsibility is to connect business requirements, solution design, and sales execution while supporting UK and European clients.
Key Responsibilities1. Pre-Sales Solutioning & Technical AdvisoryWork with the sales team to define solution approaches for Microsoft-based development, AI, analytics, and Power Platform projects.
Translate client needs into high-level and detailed technical proposals.
Assist with cost estimation, solution scoping, and preparation of Statements of Work (SoWs).
Support RFP/RFI responses and solution presentations.
Deliver compelling demos across Microsoft technologies (Azure, Fabric, Power Platform, AI, Modern App Dev).
Present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Attend in-person client meetings throughout the UK and occasionally across Europe.
Work closely with South African engineering, data, and cloud teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned to standards.
Facilitate seamless handover from sales into project delivery.
Participate in technical reviews of solution architectures and approaches.
Maintain strong knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem including Azure, Fabric, Power Platform, AI/ML, and modern software development practices.
Provide guidance on solution best practices, technology selections, and architectural patterns.
Help shape go-to-market messaging for key solution areas.
Contribute to pitch decks, capability summaries, and technical sales material.
Build trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present confidently to executives and technical teams.
Strong problem-solving and solution-shaping mindset.
Ability to translate business requirements into practical, scalable technical recommendations.
Highly organised with strong time-management and multitasking abilities.
Strong customer-centric approach and ability to build long-term relationships.
Comfortable in a fast-moving, high-growth environment with international collaboration.
- Matric or Equivalent NQF Level 4 is required
Formal degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline (advantageous).
Experience in pre-sales, solution consulting, or technical advisory roles within the Microsoft ecosystem.
Strong understanding of cloud architecture (Azure), Power Platform, modern app development, and AI/ML capabilities.
Proven experience preparing technical proposals, responses, and cost estimations.
Must hold a valid passport and driving licence and have private transport.
Open to travel locally and internationally if/when required
