Role Overview
Company Wellness Solutions seeks a strategic, commercially minded CFO to own the company's financial architecture, tax strategy, and controls while enabling scalable wellness programmes that deliver measurable health outcomes and tax-efficient benefits. The CFO will be a partner to the CEO and executive team, accountable for capital allocation, sustainable growth, and shaping benefits and reward structures that create tax-deductible value for the business and employees.
Strategic Responsibilities
• Set and execute the medium- and long-term financial strategy that supports growth, wellness outcomes, and profitability.
• Translate wellness goals into financial KPIs and investment cases that balance impact, employee value and tax efficiency.
• Partner with CEO and COO on business model design, pricing for wellness offerings, and strategic partnerships.
• Lead M&A, joint ventures, and strategic investment evaluations including financial due diligence and tax structuring.
Financial Management and Operations
• Own treasury, cash flow forecasting, working capital optimisation and banking relationships.
• Drive monthly close, financial reporting, management accounts, and consolidated statutory reporting.
• Implement scalable finance processes, ERP and reporting tooling to support rapid growth and multi-entity structures.
• Establish procurement and vendor payment oversight to protect margin on wellness programmes.
Tax Strategy and Benefits Design
• Design and implement tax-advantaged employee benefit programmes, ensuring SARS-compliant documentation and substantiation.
• Lead corporate tax planning, VAT strategy, transfer pricing considerations and tax provisioning.
• Manage tax audits, rulings, and proactive SARS engagement to secure certainty on benefit deductibility.
• Work with benefits, legal and HR to convert wellness initiatives into deductible company expenses where possible.
Governance, Risk and Compliance
• Maintain strong internal controls, lead internal and external audits and remediate findings promptly.
• Oversee enterprise risk management including operational, financial, regulatory and fraud risk.
• Ensure statutory compliance with SARS, Companies Act, BCEA, POPIA and sector-specific regulations.
• Own governance for financial delegations, authorisations and board reporting packs.
People Leadership and Stakeholder Management
• Build and lead the finance function including tax, FP&A, accounting and payroll; mentor a high-performing team.
• Present financial performance, forecasts and strategic proposals to the Board and investors.
• Manage relationships with auditors, banks, insurers, investors and key wellness vendors.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration with HR to design payroll, benefits administration and employee tax guidance.

Qualifications and Experience
• CA(SA), CTA or equivalent professional qualification in accounting and tax.
• Minimum 10 years senior finance leadership with progressive responsibility; at least 5 years in a head of finance/CFO role.
• Demonstrable tax experience structuring employee benefits, corporate tax planning and SARS engagement.
• Experience in services, healthcare, wellness or related sectors preferred.
• Track record of implementing finance systems, process automation and building high-performing teams.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
• Advanced financial modelling, valuation, and scenario planning capability.
• Deep knowledge of South African tax law, VAT, payroll taxes, and SARS practice.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience pricing value-based services and subscription models.
• Proficient with ERP/financial systems and BI tools.

• Deliver an updated three-year financial plan and cash forecast aligned to growth and wellness targets.
• Complete a tax and benefits diagnostic with clear actions to optimise deductibility and mitigate exposure.
• Stabilise month-end close and reporting cadence; present first-board-ready pack.
• Assess finance team structure and quick-win process automations.
6 to 12 Month Outcomes
• Implement approved tax-efficient benefits framework and secure SARS positions where required.
• Deploy an improved FP&A and forecasting process with rolling forecasts and scenario modelling.
• Deliver at least one strategic commercial initiative (pricing change, partnership, or cost optimisation) that improves margin.
• Strengthen governance and internal control environment, clear audit findings.
