Our client, based in Hillcrest, Pretoria, is seeking an experienced Training Facilitator to deliver a 2-day online programme on Market Conduct Supervision for professionals in the banking sector.

This engagement is ideal for a regulatory or compliance expert passionate about strengthening fair treatment, governance, and consumer protection practices within the financial system. The facilitator will help supervisory staff enhance their understanding of market conduct risks, supervisory approaches, and the regulatory frameworks that underpin South Africa's financial stability and integrity.

About the Role

The facilitator will design and deliver a comprehensive and interactive training programme focused on:


• The principles and objectives of market conduct supervision in banking.


• The regulatory landscape, including relevant South African laws and frameworks.


• Supervisory methodologies for identifying, assessing, and mitigating market conduct risks.


• Consumer protection, fair treatment, and governance expectations in the financial sector.


• Practical supervisory tools, such as risk-based supervision, thematic reviews, and enforcement mechanisms.


• Emerging trends, including digital financial services, fintech, and conduct implications of innovation.

The programme should blend conceptual frameworks with practical exercises, case studies, and local and international best practices (e.g., from the Basel Committee, IOSCO, and OECD).

Ideal Candidate Profile


• Education: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Law, Finance, Banking, Economics, or Regulation.


• Experience:

o 5+ years in market conduct regulation, supervision, compliance, or consumer protection roles.

o Prior work within or alongside regulatory authorities, banking institutions, or consulting firms.

o In-depth understanding of market conduct frameworks, including South African financial laws (e.g., Financial Sector Regulation Act, Conduct of Financial Institutions Bill).

o Ability to contextualise global standards for local supervisory practice.


• Facilitation Skills: Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering online capacity-building programmes for regulators or banking professionals.

• Ability to translate regulatory concepts into actionable supervisory practices.


• Skilled in using online training platforms (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams).


• Experience with adult learning methodologies, simulations, and interactive case studies.
