Our client is searching for a Stock Controller to join their team in Samrand.

The Stock Controller will be responsible for accurate management, control, and reporting of all inventories across raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods of different stores. The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and close coordination with the Production, Procurement, and Finance teams to ensure that stock records are always accurate and reconciled. Working mostly in the manufacturing warehouse and providing reports to finance to maintain Accurate figures on Pastel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stock Control & Reconciliation:
    • Maintain accurate stock records on Pastel Partner and/or ERP systems.
    • Perform daily, weekly, and month-end stock counts and reconciliations for all categories (raw materials, finished goods, and consumables).
    • Investigate variances promptly and prepare detailed variance reports for review by the Financial Manager.
    • Monitor and track all stock movements between factories (e.g., Gauteng to Cape Town) and warehouses.
  • Operational Coordination:
    • Work closely with the Production and Dispatch teams to verify goods received and dispatched.
    • Ensure all stock transfers, issues, and returns are properly documented and authorized.
    • Implement and enforce internal stock-control procedures to reduce losses and ensure compliance with company policy.
    • Support cycle-count programs and ensure discrepancies are resolved before month-end.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare accurate stock movement and valuation reports for management review.
    • Assist in preparing month-end and year-end stock reports for Finance team.
    • Highlight trends, wastage, or shrinkage issues to management and recommend corrective actions.
  • Compliance & Systems:
    • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric (essential).
  • Diploma or Certificate in Inventory Management, Supply Chain, or Accounting (advantageous).
  • 3–5 years' experience in stock control or inventory management within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Pastel Partner or other ERP systems.
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, variance analysis).
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and reporting ability.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Must be able to work independently and under pressure to meet monthly deadlines.
