IT Risk Specialist

Role Purpose

To provide overall strategic leadership, vision and direction to the IT risk function by supporting the achievement of the organisations strategic objectives. To ensure that IT risks are appropriately assessed, measured prioritised and reported to the relevant stakeholders.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
- BCom or BSc (Computer Science) degree

EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 6-7 years years of experience in banking, telecommunications or insurance industries of which at least 3 years in a risk management function.

KNOWLEDGE
- A strong understanding of IT Operations in the Financial Services space (Insurance Industry).
- Knowledge of IT governance framework implementation.

Duties & Responsibilities

INTERNAL PROCESSES
- Keep abreast of trends, legislation and best practices to optimise service delivery and offering. Provide input into the BU overall IT strategy to ensure that it meets the BU's business objectives.
- Develop remedial plans with risk owners to manage IT risks to desired levels on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure appropriate oversight over the organisation's information assets and data integrity processes.
- Develop and refine operating policies, standards and guidelines for the management of IT risk.
- Oversee on-going IT improvements and the feasibility of system developments and enhancements.
- Promote sound governance principles around IT decision making.
- Ensure appropriate back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.
- Oversee the management of regulatory and compliance related IT requirements.
- Manage and coordinate the effective delivery of high quality, cost effective, pragmatic and business driven IT Risk services across the
organisation.
- Aggregate and produce IT Risk reporting on key risks and chair the appropriate IT Risk committees.
- Provide engagement into major change programs delivering appropriate IT Risk expertise.
- Actively manage IT Risk risks in accordance with the organisations stated risk framework. In particular, ensure risks are properly assessed, evaluated, recorded and remedial plans are agreed and monitored to completion.
