A permanent vacancy exists for a Head - QMS - based at the Service’s HQ (Paterson Grade D3).

Purpose of the Job:

- Leads and manages the QMS framework, aligned with national and international regulations and guidelines.
- Represents WCBS on regulatory matters.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provides leadership and expertise to national authorities when required.
- Maintains accreditation with external authorities and/or systems.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the efficient management and operational control of the QMS department and function.
- Develops, implements and monitors the QMS Department’s strategic plan and objectives in line with the overall Service strategy.
- Communicates and exemplifies the Services’ core values in order to increase staff morale, promote better teamwork and improve attitudes in the workplace.
- Oversees resource allocation to achieve all objectives.
- Manages departmental budget to contain operational costs.
- Develops and maintains good relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Implementation of the Service’s training, professional development, health, safety and quality programmes.
- National Diploma or B-Tech in Biomedical Technology & current registration with the HPCSA; OR
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Health Sciences, or a closely related field.
- A formal qualification in quality management.
- At least 5 years’ experience in quality management at senior supervisory and/or management level.
- At least 5 years’ leadership experience, in an environment involving the co-ordination and management of varied and highly regulated work outputs.
- A Management qualification and/or previous experience in a blood service or health care environment may be an advantage.
