The Mechanical (Working) Charge-Hand’s primary mission is to ensure that all vehicles within your area are operating efficiently and well maintained in

accordance with company standards; ensure the efficient management, co-ordination and record-keeping of general maintenance activities;

**RESOURCES**
- Assets and Parts Control Lists and Maintenance schedule
- Maintenance vehicle, tools and stock
- Workshop and Maintenance Department staff
- Central Head Office support and Managers
- Managing Director

**PERFORMANCE CRITERIA**
- Ensuring that all vehicles that are scheduled, repaired and maintained are operating efficiently (Quality Control)
- Ensuring that maintenance standards are in accordance with company standards
- Ensuring that OHS Act standards are adhered to
- Ensuring workshop is clean and reflective of company image at all times
- Ensure staff comply with all company image and health and safety standards

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- General co-ordination, planning, scheduling and maintenance of vehicles
- Ensuring that scheduled daily and monthly maintenance is planned and done on vehicles
- Ensuring all maintenance schedules and registers are compiled and adhered to
- Ensuring asset and parts registers are current and accurate
- Communication between the Customers and the Workshop
- Welding of various steel structures and general painting
- Maintaining hydraulic systems
- Maintenance of vehicles where required
- Overall care and maintenance of company assets
- Liaising with suppliers and placing of orders where applicable
- Supervising General Workers and workshop staff
- General repair work as required
- Paperwork completed along company guidelines - on time and accurate
- Adherence to and enforcement of all company processes and procedures

**QUALIFICATIONS / BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum Grade 12 / N2, preferably N3 or higher technical qualification
- Minimum five years general commercial vehicle experience essential
- Trade Test / National Qualification preferred
- Code EC or C (Code 14) Driver’s License preferred
- Auto-electrical, electrical and hydraulic knowledge / experience preferred

**PERSONAL/TECHNICAL SKILLS**
- Sound verbal, written and telephonic communication skills in English
- Technical aptitude
- Energetic and flexible disposition
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
- Ability and willingness to work irregular and extended hours
- Precise and accurate nature, as well as attention to detail and sound organizational ability
- Deadline orientated

**Salary**: R28 000 CTC per month
