Head of Collections, Strategy and Ifrs9 Modelling

Responsible for building data-driven collection strategies to improve and enhance the collection of all outstanding balances for the business. Development, maintenance, and execution of IFRS9 models and financial forecasting models for compliance and target setting.

**Responsibilities**:
Strategy Implementation:

- Translate strategy into efficient and effective operational initiatives with measurable business outcomes and targets
- Facilitate the development of best practices in operations and service excellence.
- Present results, forecasts, insights, and analysis to Exco as required.
- Build and maintain a close working relationships with Senior Management within the business.

Collections:

- Responsible for forecasting and setting targets for the Customer Experience and Engagement team.
- Develop strategies for pre-delinquent, early stage and late-stage collections that achieve the required collection targets.
- Collaborate with Customer Experience and Engagement to execute effective collection strategies.
- Review all strategies on a monthly basis, recommending changes where applicable.
- Report on the impact of strategies on collection targets.
- Work closely with IT to ensure the implementation of collections strategies on all systems across the business.

IFRS9:

- Build forecast and analytical models within the Credit Risk environment, proactively assessing, adjusting, and rebuilding the model as required.
- Establish and maintain appropriate governance and ownership of analytical and forecasting models.
- Facilitate the annual external audit of IFRS9 models.
- Run financial forecast model monthly (sales, bad debts, fraud write off etc.).
- Manage relationships with external modeling companies, data providers and credit bureaus, and other agencies.

Stakeholder Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain close working relationships with key internal stakeholders to deliver on business plans and targets.
- Identify, build, and nurture trust and collaborative relationships with Credit Bureaus and other Agencies.

People Management:

- Provide direction and define objectives to be achieved in the area of responsibility
- Manage performance of direct reports ensuring agreement of annual goals and measuring performance against agreed goals and addressing non-performance issues.
- Deploy people management processes effectively, in line with Company policies, procedures, and prevailing improvement initiatives.
- Drive a culture of high performance and accountability and encourage team members to live the Company values.

Financial Management:

- Manage budgets and monitor expenses ensuring expenditure is within approved budgets.
Safety, Health and Environment Compliance:

- Ensure compliance with all Safety, Health, Environmental and all other applicable regulatory statutes, and all other safety and quality processes for the area of responsibility/work

**Qualifications & Accreditations**
- BSc Actuarial Science, BSc Mathematical Statistics, BSc Mathematics/Mathematical statistics, BCom Statistics degree

**Experience & Skills**
- 8 years experience in a similar role in the financial sector
- Advanced computer literacy skills with high proficiency in SAS/SQL or similar stats package
- Strong IFRS modelling experience
