**Job Purpose**:
To provide the community of the eThekwini Municipality with a Mental Health service within the
framework of a primary health care and to ensure community participation in service provision.

**Key Responsibility Areas**:

- Ensures an efficient mental health care service through implementing standard operating
procedures and policies regarding service provision to mental health clients.
- Providing support and guidance on mental health related issues and new developments to
clinic staff.
- Participates in the maintenance of quality assurance and provides input into the revision of
policies, procedures and protocols.
- Undertakes in-service education of staff.
- Undertakes ongoing professional development.
- Establishes and maintains liaison with the community and other relevant disciplines.
- Undertakes administrative functions i.e. assets, stationary and stock control, compilation and
collation of statistics and data etc.
- Participates in research programs.
- Provides services in support of Civil Protection during disaster situations.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Diploma in Community Nursing Science.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse and Midwife.
- Dispensing Licence to be obtained within 12 months of appointment.
- Post Basic Conditions in
- Clinic Health Assessments, Diagnosis, Treatment and Care OR HIV
- Management OR Advanced Midwifery OR Appropriate equivalent.
- 3 Years relevant experience in Community Health Nursing.

**Preferred Requirements**:

- Diploma in Psychiatry
- Dispensing Licence.
- Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code B).
