**Job Purpose**:
To provide a comprehensive, equitable occupational health service to Ethekweni Municipality
employees.

**Key Responsibility Areas**:
Provides primary medical care services.
Plans and executes a health promotion programme in line with the National Health Calendar.
Plans and implements an effective wellness management programme within the allocated
region.
Provides an occupational health and hygiene service and keeps up to date with current trends
and standards in light thereof.
Oversees the First Aid and Injury on duty management at clinic level.
Provides an efficient, effective legally compliant occupational health service to ensure healthy
employees.
Effectively markets and/ or promotes occupational health service to all council employees.
Ensures clinical and administrative policies, procedures and processes are adhered to.
Continually assesses and evaluates the performance of subordinates.

Special Conditions:
1. To be able to travel within the Ethekweni Municipality Boundaries.
2. Posts are interchangeable within occupational health regional clinics.

This post reports to CHIEF PROFESSIONAL NURSE

**Essential Requirements**:
Diploma in General Nursing.
Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Nursing Practitioner.
Qualification in Occupational Health - Degree or Diploma or Certificate.
Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B).
Certificate in Pharmacology / Dispensing course or license.
2 Years Occupational Health Experience.
Computer Literacy.

**Preferred Requirements**:
Certificate or Diploma in Primary Health Care.
Community Nursing Science.
Registration of Occupational Health as an additional qualification with the South African
Nursing Council.
Certificate in Audiometry.
Certificate in Spirometry.
4 Years experience in Primary Health Care.
